Fun with my family

Today was one of those rare days where Matt and I had nothing planned and nothing we had to do. We got up this morning and relaxed together over coffee while Akaela played. After awhile we got moving and headed down to the Guthrie - one of my favorite places!

Being down there on such a beautiful day with my family reminded me how blessed I am. When life gets busy it becomes really easy to get caught up in the "small stuff." I need days like today where I can step back, see the bigger picture and be with the two people I love the most in the world (and my camera).

Charlotte Rae | Newborn

It's a girl! I was thrilled to meet Charlotte Rae, born Feb. 1. She was just a sweetheart - put up with our whole shoot without complaint (well, until the very end :)).

I had such a blast a few months ago doing a maternity shoot with Rick and Jessie and this time was no different. I think I told them at the time I couldn't help but smile as I worked on editing their photos because it was so evident how much they adore each other and I feel exactly the same way as I work through this set. Charlotte is a very blessed little girl - she has an amazing set of parents (in addition to a beautiful mom with an awesome fashion sense - check out Charlotte's hip leg warmers!)!

Rick and Jessie - thanks so much for welcoming me into your house and letting me shoot away!

And just because...no Joslin photo session is complete without Max...

Steve & Serena | Engagement

It's starting to feel like Spring in Minnesota, and I'm ready! Although in a photographer's life, nothing makes it feel more like Spring than the start of wedding season, which always kicks off with engagement shoots.

Today I had a BLAST shooting with Steve & Serena! Serena is involved in the fashion industry and her trendy elegance showed up in the little details she picked out for our shoot today. I absolutely can't wait to see these two walk down the aisle...it's impossible to miss how crazy they are about each other after only a few minutes with them.

Thanks so much for such a fun day today you guys; you were great!

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

On Sunday the 34th MPs returned to St. Paul. I was out at the Stillwater Armory to welcome home a soldier that had been gone for around nine months. In the time he was serving our country overseas, his first child was born. I've never seen anything anything as amazing, emotional, heartbreaking and touching.

Below are some images of the first time that this beautiful little girl met her daddy.

Chad and Brooke, thank you so much for the sacrifices you've made for our freedom.
